Pets "Heyvoonhaa-ye Khaanegee"

During this unit the children learn about pets and objects associated with them.  The timing of this unit coincides nicely with the Persian New Year so the week we learn about fish, we introduce our class pet who we put on our Haft Seen!   In addition to "Maahee" (fish) week, we also have a "Sag" (dog) week, "Gorbe" (cat) week, and "Khargoosh" (rabbit) week.

The Visit to the Petshop handout pictured left and available to download below is a useful vocabulary review.  It's a fun scavenger hunt you can do with your kids.  All you need is the handout and a local pet shop.

The "Gorbe-ye Maloos" handout goes with one of our favorite Persian children CDs, Nasser Nazar's World of Joy, song #20.

We've linked pictures (including a fun art project to make "khargoosh" hats) from our unit here.
