During the Farm "Mazrae" Unit, the children learn a lot of classic songs like Atal Matal Tootoole and Amoo Zanjeerbaaf as well as our own songs. All songs are written in Persian and phonetic English (for those not able to read Persian) and can be downloaded in PDF form below.
A great way to teach students about farm animals is to teach them the sounds they make. However, did you know that some animals make different sounds in Persian? For example, Persian chickens don't go "cluck, cluck, cluck" but rather "ghod, ghod, ghod"! Our Persian translation of Old McDonald teaches you all the animals and their sounds. This song is also part of the "Atal Matal Tootoole with Farm and Fall Songs" PDF file below.
Songs on CD are always a hit. Two songs on CD we learned this quarter are "Ye Bozee Daaram (#8)" and "Khooroose" (#1), both of which we have made into colorful handouts and attached below. You can click on the song to take you to the songs on iTunes.
As always, we have flashcards for this unit as well with the most common farm vocabulary, just download the Farm Flashcards.
Lastly, don't forget to check out our Corn Cake book. This book shows children where all the ingredients of "Keyk-e Zorat" (Corn Cake) come from. A fun way we end our unit is by having the kids do "aashpazee" (cooking) and make real corn cake!
